The best place for adult Richmond actors to get honest feedback and support
Pretending Trees, hosted by local actor and director Joseph Carlson, is a monthly show where actors perform short pieces and then the audience gives constructive criticism back. It's free to watch and free to perform!
7:00 pm
Tuesdays, once a month
Firehouse Theatre, 1609 W. Broad St.
If you'd like to act, bring a monologue, dialogue, song, dance, standup or sketch comedy performance, radio announcement--anything you can perform. In case you have nothing to perform of your own, we provide four new scripts each month: two monologues and two dialogues. You can read them cold or rehearse them beforehand, picking up a copy at the preceding month's Pretending Trees or online at yellowhouseva.org/ptrees.php
Anyone can sign up - don't be nervous! Performers can be anything from Oscar winning professionals to never-acted-once-before amateurs. There is a max of twelve performances per night, though, so if you want to act, get there early. Sign up starts at 6:30.
It's a great place for actors to hone their craft and to practice an audition piece before the big day. It's also the perfect place for film and theatre directors to meet local talent and for performance-loving Richmonders to have an entertaining night. Check our schedule for special guests.
